How to manage family members

Update seats, remove members, and keep each person connected to the right plan and controls.

Once your Family Plan is set up, managing members is something you will do occasionally — adding a new person, adjusting a seat, or removing someone who no longer needs access. This guide covers how to do all of that on both web and mobile.

Viewing your members

On the web, open the Family section from the side menu. You will see a list of everyone on your plan, each showing their name, email, and a badge indicating their seat type: Admin, Member, or Teen. Members whose invitation is still pending will show a Pending badge alongside their name.

On mobile, open the Family tab from the side menu. You will see the same member list. Tapping on any member takes you to their detail view where you can review their controls and, for teen seats, manage the device binding.

Adding a regular member

Regular members are adults or older teens who have their own Acutis account. To add one, open the Family section on the web and use the invite flow. Enter their email address and send the invitation. They will receive an email with a link to accept — once they do, they appear as active on your plan.

Until they accept, their status will show as Pending. The seat is reserved for them as soon as the invitation is sent, so it counts toward your seat total.

Adding a teen profile

Teen profiles are different from regular members — they do not require an email address or a separate Acutis account. You create the profile directly from the Family section on the web by choosing to add a teen seat and entering a name. Once created, the profile appears in your member list.

To connect the teen profile to a device, open the Acutis mobile app on the phone or tablet your child uses. Go to the Family tab in the side menu, find the teen seat, and tap Set up on this device. After binding, that device will open directly into the teen experience each time the app is launched — no login required for the child.

Managing a member's controls

On the web, tap the Manage button next to any member to open their individual settings. From here you can configure blocked topics, screen time limits, conversation history access, image generation, and parental alerts. See the How parental controls work guide for a full breakdown of each option.

On mobile, tap the member's name to open the same controls. Changes take effect immediately.

Removing a member

To remove someone from your plan, tap the Remove button next to their name on the web or mobile Family screen. This frees up the seat immediately. For regular members, they lose access to the family plan but keep their own Acutis account. For teen profiles, the profile and its device binding are deleted.

If you remove a member and want to add a different person in their place, the seat becomes available straight away and you can send a new invitation or create a new teen profile without any delay.

Adjusting your seat count

If you need more seats than you currently have, you can add them from the Family section on the web. Each additional seat costs $12 per month and is added to your existing subscription. Removing a seat reduces your next billing amount — it does not issue a refund for the current billing period.
