Set up your Family Plan
Walk through inviting family members, assigning seats, and configuring the parent account that manages the household.
The Family Plan is designed for households that want to use Acutis together — with the right controls, visibility, and pricing in place for everyone from adults to young children. This guide walks through how to subscribe, how to add members, and how to make sure you are set up to stay informed as a parent.
Step 1 — Subscribe on the web
The Family Plan can only be started from the Acutis website. Open the app on mobile and you will not find a way to subscribe there — this is intentional, as the full setup and billing flow lives on the web.
Once you are signed in on the web, open the Family section from the side menu. From there you can subscribe to the Family Plan. The base plan costs $22 per month and covers you as the account administrator plus one additional included seat. If your household needs more members, each extra seat is $12 per month. You can add or remove extra seats at any time.
Step 2 — Add your family members
Once you are subscribed, your family dashboard is accessible from the side menu on the web. From here you can add two types of members:
- Regular members — adults or older teens who have their own Acutis account. You invite them by email, and they accept the invitation to join your family plan.
- Teen profiles — for younger family members who do not have their own account. You create the profile directly, set a name, and then link it to a specific device. This is designed for children who use a shared or dedicated device at home.
For teen profiles, once you have created them on the web, you can open the Acutis mobile app on the device your child uses and bind it to that profile from the Family screen. After binding, that device will open directly into the teen experience — with the controls and guardrails you have configured.
Step 3 — Manage everything from mobile
Once you have subscribed on the web, a new Family button will appear in the side menu of the Acutis mobile app. This is your hub for managing the plan on the go. From the mobile Family screen you can see all your members, review their usage, and access the controls for each person without needing to open a browser.
The full billing and seat management (adding or removing seats, changing the plan) still happens on the web. But the day-to-day oversight — checking in on a member, adjusting controls, reviewing flagged conversations — is all accessible from the mobile app.
Step 4 — Turn on notifications
This step matters more than it might seem. Acutis can flag conversations where a family member — particularly a teen — asks about sensitive topics. This includes things like self-harm, dangerous content, or subjects that fall outside the guardrails you have configured.
When something is flagged, Acutis sends you a notification so you can review it. But this only works if you have notifications enabled for the Acutis app on your phone. If you have not done this yet, go to your phone settings, find Acutis in your app list, and make sure notifications are turned on.
You do not need to read every message your children send — and Acutis is not designed to make you feel like a surveillance system. The goal is simply to be aware when something genuinely unusual comes up, so you can follow up in person if needed. Turning on notifications is the only way that works reliably.
A note on controls
From the Family screen — both on web and mobile — you can open each member's settings and configure what topics they can ask about, set content guardrails, and review their conversation history. For teen profiles especially, it is worth spending five minutes going through these settings when you first set them up.
These controls are not a substitute for conversation. The best thing you can do is talk to your children about what Acutis is, how it works, and how you expect them to use it — the same way you would with any tool you put in their hands. The controls are there as a safety net, not a replacement for that.
