Acutis is a general-purpose AI — you can ask it everyday questions, get help with writing, look things up, or think through a problem. Under the hood, it routes your question across multiple leading AI models (from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic, depending on the mode you pick) — but every response is shaped by a Catholic worldview layered on top, rather than the secular, neutral default most general AI assistants ship with.
It also doesn't try to keep you hooked. Most AI products are designed to maximise engagement — longer conversations, more follow-up questions, a pull to keep coming back. Acutis is deliberately different: responses are kept concise, follow-up prompts are minimal, and the goal is to give you what you need and send you on your way. It's a tool, not a habit.
Families

The Family Plan lets one parent (the admin) add family members — including children and teens — under a single subscription. Each member gets their own account, and the admin gets a dashboard to manage everyone on the plan.
There are two tiers: Family ($22/month, including the admin plus one member seat, then $12/month per additional seat) is best for one or two kids. Family Max ($100/month) gives the whole family the highest shared usage limits and access to the top-tier models, and is built for larger families.
From the Family settings, an admin can set, per member, any combination of:
- View chat history — turn on a read-only transcript of a member's future conversations, visible to the admin
- Restricted hours — block app access during a set window each day (e.g. overnight), based on that member's own timezone
- Daily time limit — cap how many minutes per day a member can use the app
- Blocked topic categories — switch off entire topic categories for a member, on top of Acutis's built-in content guardrails
- Image generation — allow or disallow a member from generating images
- Remove a family member from the plan at any time
- Bind a teen's account to a specific device
Acutis already filters responses to stay within Catholic-appropriate content — this applies to all users. On top of that, admins can switch off specific blocked topic categories for any family member from the Family settings, which restricts that member from those topics entirely. There's no free-form custom allowlist, but between the built-in guardrails and category-level blocking, parents have real control over what a child's account can engage with.
Yes. From a member's settings on the Family Plan, an admin can turn on View chat history. Once it's enabled, that member's conversations going forward are saved as a read-only transcript the admin can open from the Family dashboard.
This is off by default and applies from the moment it's turned on — it doesn't retroactively reveal conversations that already happened. It's a deliberate setting, not silent background monitoring, so you can decide how much oversight is right for each family member.
Acutis actively discourages over-reliance. It won't act as a companion, won't simulate friendship, and consistently redirects users toward prayer, real relationships, and the Church. On top of that design choice, parents can layer on restricted hours and a daily time limit for any family member to encourage device-free time, especially for kids and teens.
Restricted hours are set per family member, not for the whole account — by default they run overnight from 10pm to 6am in that member's own timezone, but an admin can adjust the days and times from the Family settings.
While a restriction is active, that member sees a simple lock screen — “It's time to rest” — instead of being able to open the app, with a short note encouraging them to come back the next day. Nothing is deleted or lost; the app just becomes unavailable for that window. The parent's own account is never affected by another member's restricted hours.
For each family member, an admin can independently control:
- Whether they can generate images
- Which topic categories are blocked for them
- A daily time limit, in minutes
- Restricted hours / downtime windows
- Whether their chat history is visible to the admin
These can be mixed and matched per member — a teen and a younger child don't need the same restrictions. If you need a control that isn't available yet, email support — we actively prioritize parental feedback for future releases.
In settings, go to Family Plan. From there you can add new members (regular or teen), send them an invitation, or remove them. Teen accounts can also be set up directly on a device through the teen setup flow.
Account & Billing
6 articles
On the web, go to Pricing to see and choose a plan, or open Settings → Account from inside the app to manage an existing subscription — Acutis detects whether you're billed through Stripe or Apple and opens the right billing portal for you. On iOS, subscriptions can also be managed directly through the App Store — open Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions.
Acutis currently offers five plans:
- Free — 20 credits per day, the standard base model, and a few daily images. Good for occasional use.
- Pro ($16/month) — a much larger weekly credit pool (350 credits/week), choice of top-tier models, paid image models, and Automations.
- Max ($85/month) — the highest individual usage tier, with 2,400 credits/week, access to the most capable models, and priority responses.
- Family ($22/month) — Pro-level access shared across the family (500 credits/week), plus teen profiles and parental controls.
- Family Max ($100/month) — the largest shared pool (2,800 credits/week) and top-tier models for the whole family.
Credits power messages, image generation, and other AI features — they reset daily on Free and weekly on every paid plan. See Pricing for full, up-to-date details.
Family ($22/month) includes the admin account plus one included member seat, with additional seats at $12/month each — a good fit for one or two kids. All members get Pro-level model access and image generation, shared from one weekly credit pool. The admin also gets the parental control tools — restricted hours, daily time limits, blocked topic categories, image-generation toggles, and optional chat history visibility — plus teen profile and device setup. If you need a bigger shared pool and the top-tier models for a larger family, Family Max ($100/month) is the next tier up.
On iOS, purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. On the web, billing is handled directly by Acutis via Stripe. If you subscribe on one platform, access is tied to that platform — you'll need to manage the subscription through the same platform you originally subscribed on.
Web: Open Settings → Account from inside the app and choose to manage your billing — this opens your Stripe billing portal, where you can change or cancel your plan.
iOS: Open iOS Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → Acutis. The same Settings → Account option in the app will also detect Apple billing and take you straight to your App Store subscription page.
Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
If you can still sign in, the fastest way is in-app: go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your profile, family/account data, chats, generated images, and subscription records, except for the limited billing, legal, or compliance records we're required to keep.
If you no longer have access to the app, email support@acutisai.com from the address on your account and we'll process the deletion after verifying you're the account owner. See Delete Account for the full details of what's deleted and what's retained. There isn't currently a separate self-serve data export tool — if you need a copy of your data before deleting, mention that in your email.
Using Acutis
5 articles
Most AI apps are designed to be maximally helpful for any task. Acutis is intentionally scoped: it's a Catholic assistant, not a general assistant. Every response is shaped by Catholic teaching, and features like Morning Brew, Lectio Divina, and parental controls are built around faith formation — not engagement.
We made a deliberate choice not to simulate friendship or emotional attachment. Research and pastoral wisdom both suggest that AI companions can displace real human relationships and distort healthy attachment — especially for children. Acutis is a tool, not a friend.
Acutis is well-suited for exploring theology, Church history, saints, Scripture, and moral philosophy. It's not designed for general homework help. For academic essays or assignments, we encourage using it for understanding — not for generating work to submit.
Morning Brew is a daily digest that refreshes automatically each day. It includes the saint (or feast day) of the day, a quote of the day, a few “what to know” bullets, an optional event of the day, a fun fact or two, and an astronomy fact — along with a note if it's a holy day of obligation. You can access it from the home screen or the Morning Brew widget.
Widgets are focused tools that open in their own mode, separate from the main chat — access them from the navigation menu or via slash commands in the composer. The current lineup includes:
- Morning Brew — the daily faith digest
- Magisterium Search — search across Church documents and teaching
- Mass Times — find Mass times near you
- Quizzes — short, faith-focused daily quizzes
- Movies — Catholic-friendly movie guidance
- Tutor — guided learning conversations
- Build — a creative/building tool
- Automations — set up recurring tasks
- Image generation — create images from within the app
Most widgets are available on paid plans (Pro, Max, Family, and Family Max); some are still rolling out, so what you see may continue to expand over time.
Troubleshooting
2 articles
First, try a hard refresh (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows) or force-quit and reopen the app. If the issue persists, email support@acutisai.com with your device model, OS version, and a brief description of what happened — the more detail you give us, the faster we can track it down.
Every plan has a credit allowance that powers messages, image generation, and other AI features. Free resets daily (20 credits); paid plans (Pro, Max, Family, Family Max) draw from a larger weekly pool instead. If you've used up your allowance, you can wait for the next reset or upgrade to a higher plan for more headroom. If you think you're seeing this message incorrectly, email support@acutisai.com.
