Common Questions
Quick Help
Answers to the questions we hear most often.
First, try a hard refresh (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows) or force-quit and reopen the app. If the issue persists, email support@acutisai.com with your device model, OS version, and a brief description of what happened.
On the login screen, tap Forgot password to receive a reset link by email. If you signed up with Google, you'll need to use the Google sign-in button — there's no separate password.
Still locked out? Email support@acutisai.com with the email address on your account.
On the web, go to Pricing to upgrade or change your plan. On iOS, subscriptions are managed through the App Store — open Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions.
Acutis is a general-purpose AI — you can ask it everyday questions, get help with writing, look things up, or think through a problem. The difference is the lens it brings: where ChatGPT defaults to a secular, neutral worldview, Acutis answers through a Catholic one.
It also doesn't try to keep you hooked. Most AI products are designed to maximise engagement — longer conversations, more follow-up questions, a pull to keep coming back. Acutis is deliberately different: responses are kept concise, follow-up prompts are minimal, and the goal is to give you what you need and send you on your way. It's a tool, not a habit.
Email support@acutisai.com with the subject "Delete my account" or "Export my data". We may ask for identity verification before processing the request.
Family Plan & Parental Controls
Family Plan
Acutis is built to help families guide their children's use of AI — not replace real relationships.
The Family Plan lets one parent (the admin) add family members — including children and teens — under a single subscription. Each member gets their own account. The plan starts at $22/month for the admin plus one included seat, and is $12/month per additional seat.
Parents can:
- Set restricted hours so the app is unavailable at certain times of day
- Review flagged conversations through parental concern reports
- Remove a family member from the plan at any time
- Set up teen profiles with additional restrictions
- Bind a teen's account to a specific device
Acutis already filters responses to stay within Catholic-appropriate content — this applies to all users. For teens, additional topic guards are in place. You can't define a custom allowlist of topics, but the built-in guardrails are purposeful and consistent.
Parents can receive parental concern reports — these are summaries generated when a conversation touches a topic that may warrant parental awareness (e.g., questions about mental health, faith crises, or sensitive moral topics).
Full chat logs are not exposed to parents by default. Acutis is designed to maintain a degree of trust with the child so they'll actually use it honestly — not to create a surveillance tool.
Acutis actively discourages over-reliance. It won't act as a companion, won't simulate friendship, and consistently redirects users toward prayer, real relationships, and the Church. Restricted hours (set by parents) also encourage device-free time.
When restricted hours are in effect, the app shows a friendly message indicating it's unavailable. No content is accessible during this time. The restriction applies to the child's account specifically, not the parent's.
Some features like image generation can be restricted for teen accounts. If you need specific feature controls that aren't available yet, email support — we actively prioritize parental feedback for future releases.
In settings, go to Family Plan. From there you can add new members (regular or teen), send them an invitation, or remove them. Teen accounts can also be set up directly on a device through the teen setup flow.
Product
Using Acutis
Understanding the design philosophy behind the product.
Most AI apps are designed to be maximally helpful for any task. Acutis is intentionally scoped: it's a Catholic assistant, not a general assistant. Every response is shaped by Catholic teaching, and features like Morning Brew, Lectio Divina, and parental controls are built around faith formation — not engagement.
We made a deliberate choice not to simulate friendship or emotional attachment. Research and pastoral wisdom both suggest that AI companions can displace real human relationships and distort healthy attachment — especially for children. Acutis is a tool, not a friend.
Acutis is well-suited for exploring theology, Church history, saints, Scripture, and moral philosophy. It's not designed for general homework help. For academic essays or assignments, we encourage using it for understanding — not for generating work to submit.
Morning Brew is a daily faith digest — a curated briefing that combines the liturgical calendar, a saint of the day, Scripture readings, and a short reflection. It's generated fresh each morning based on the Catholic liturgical day. You can access it from the home screen or the Morning Brew widget.
Widgets are focused tools available on the Pro plan: things like daily quizzes, Magisterium search, Mass times, and image generation. Each widget opens a focused mode separate from the main chat. Access them from the navigation menu or via slash commands in the chat composer.
